Amsterhammered - Man gets drunk and wakes up in Holland
James O’Kane, 22, does not remember how or why he booked himself a taxi to
Gatwick Airport at 4am then bought a £232 ticket to the Dutch city.
The first the supermarket worker knew of his trip was waking on a British Airways plane at Schipol airport.
He said: “I have no idea what I was thinking. I had never even been abroad on my own before.
“It was a sad day and I remember drinking a lot, but the next thing I knew a stewardess woke me up.”
James, who had taken his passport to the funeral for ID in the pub afterwards, discovered he had booked three days in Holland, but only had £50 cash on him.
James spent the three days wandering the streets in his mourner’s suit and flip-flops, bought as his dress shoes hurt.
He could not even enjoy sightseeing as his specs were at home in Orpington. But he did take some joke selfies during his jaunt last month.
He said: “It’s funny now, but I wasn’t laughing then. I’m not planning any more adventures.”
